Lewis "Jimmy" Morgan Tibbs, 91, of Narrow Passage Road, Spout Spring, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Jane Marshall Tibbs.
Born in Campbell County, April 26, 1924 he was a son of the late Nolie Joy and Robert Bernard Tibbs. He was a member of New Concord Presbyterian where he served as an Elder and Deacon. Lewis served his country during WWII as a member of the United States Navy. He was a Superintendent of the Shipping Department for H.K. Porter and was a farmer.
He is survived by his daughter, Pat Torrence and husband, Mike of Spout Spring; a sister, Mae McCarron of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Micah Torrence and wife, Stacey, Wyatt Torrence and wife, Tara, Brady Torrence and wife, Heather all of Appomattox; six great-grandchildren, Aaron, Alora, Noah, Isaiah, Waylon and Weston; five sisters-in-law, Marion Tibbs, Lois Tibbs, Sue Marshall, Bea Downing and Margarette Ferguson; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Nancy Cash, Betty Dotson and Gentle Shepard Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at Robinson Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in New Concord Presbyterian Cemetery with Military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW#9855 combined honor guard.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 7 until 8:30 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Mike and Pat Torrence.
