Obituary

Leonard Waugh Oliver, 87, of Lynchburg died peacefully in Lynchburg on April 4, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Dorothy Chambers Oliver.

He was born in Amherst County, Virginia on August 4, 1927 and was the son of the late John Bernard Oliver and Ella Maie Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his brother, Robert Willis Oliver, Sr. and his sisters, Margaret Oliver Drake and Juanita Oliver Ware.

He retired after twenty one years in the the Air Force in 1968. His final tour of duty was in Viet Nam. After retiring to Red House, Leonard worked for many years with J. E. Jamerson and Sons. He and his wife were active members at Providence Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Leonard's life was centered by his steadfast devotion to his God, his family and his country.

He is survived by his daughter Susan Gaynelle Oliver, two sisters, Louise Oliver Berg and Dorothy Reid-Wertz, and a special nephew, John Robert Muckel.

Funeral services will be held on April the 8th at 11:00 am at Providence Baptist Church in Red House Virginia by Reverend Scott Curtis with burial to follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service and after the burial.
