Leonard Allen "Leo" McCormick, Jr., 54, of Linden Street, Appomattox, died, Monday, September 4, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Jill Franklin McCormick.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on February 19, 1963, he was the son of the late Phyllis Almond and Leonard Allen McCormick, Sr. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a 1981 graduate of Appomattox County High School. Leo was employed by Haley Auto Mall of Farmville and was the top salesman for the region. He was formerly employed by Norfolk and Southern Railroad.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lindsay McCormick of Wilmington, N.C. and Blair McClure and husband, Harper of Alexandria; "Big Poppa" to grandson, Tristan; a sister, Cheryl M. Marshall and husband, Larry of Nelson; step-sons, Max Doss of Madison Heights and Dustin Doss and wife, Jessica of Appomattox; a niece and nephew, Sarah Napier and husband, James and Jason Haley; mother and father-in-law, Max and Yvonne Franklin of Appomattox; and numerous cousins including special cousins; Denise Totty and husband, Ralph and Connie Williams and husband, Randy. He is also survived by his faithful companion "Buckwheat" and was greeted in his heavenly home by the wagging tail of "Mellencamp."

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Rusty Small officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Robinson Funeral Home and others times at the residence.
