Obituary

Lena Hunter McLean, 93, of Appomattox, died Friday, November 25, 2016, at Babcock Manor. She was the wife of the late John Edward McLean

Born in Charlotte County, Va., on February 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Hamlet and Ambrose Baker Hunter, Sr. She was a graduate of Montreat College and the 1944 class of Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. Lena was a registered nurse and for many years was the school nurse for Appomattox County Primary School. She was a lifelong member of Concord Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder. Lena was also a member of the Appomattox Woman's Club, the Retired Teachers Association, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #104.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laurie M. and Donald Whitman of Glen Allen; two grandsons, Kyle Hunter Whitman and John Bryce Whitman; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hamlet D. Hunter and Ambrose Baker Hunter, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 28, 2016, at Concord Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Anthony Reeves. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today, Sunday, Nov. 28, 2016 from 4-6 p.m. and other times at her residence.
