Larry Paul Smith, 61, of Kill Deer Rd., Pamplin, died Monday August 25, 2014 at his residence. He was the husband of Rochelle Williamson Smith.
Born in Lynchburg, Va., April 11, 1953, he was a son of the late Elsie Ramsey and Paul Henry Smith. Larry was a mechanic for Pamplin Exxon for 43 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by five children; Elizabeth Mayberry, and her husband Henry, of Pamplin, and Lisa Smith of Appomattox, Robert A. Smith, and his wife Virginia, Ryan K. Smith and Rene Ballowe all of Pamplin, and Neil S. Smith, and his wife Samantha, of Appomattox; a brother, Ryland Smith and his wife Becky, of Clarksville; three sisters, Carolyn S. Hamilton, and her husband Bill, Shelby S, Atkins, and her husband Timmy, all of Darlington Heights, and Darlene S. Gamez, and her husband Oscar of Spring, TX; eight grandchildren, Darren Kress, Jasmine McCoy, Haley Mayberry, Jaylin McCoy, Madisyn Mayberry, Kenneth Smith, Kynslei Smith, and Lila Smith; two great grandchildren, Noah Kress and Myiah Kress; an uncle, Charles Smith and his wife, Ellen, Appomattox; and a brother-in-law, Norman VanDerVeer, Pamplin, many nieces, nephews and cousins including Rose and Larry Anthony of Appomattox.
Larry was preceded in death by a sister Nancy VanDerVeer.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Robinson Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. and other times at the residence.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Spring Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Dwayne Stinson and the Rev. Paul McLinden, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
