Larry Kyle Doss, 62, of Oak Ridge Rd, Appomattox, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008. He was the husband of Nancy Cheatham Doss for 39 years.
Born in Appomattox County, March 26, 1946, he was a son of the late James Lloyd Doss and Margaret Virginia Whitehead Doss. Larry was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather always putting his family first. He served in the Army Reserves and was dedicated to the profession of logging for over 35 years. He was noted by his peers as a "top notch" logger.
In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by three children, Sonya D. Ford of Appomattox, Susan D. Hawkins and husband, Keith of Lynchburg, and Derek Doss and wife, Dawn of Concord; six grandchildren, Kirsten, Chase, Dylan, Morgan, Hannah, and Zoe; four brothers, David L. Doss of Appomattox, J. Garland Doss and wife, Karen of Lynchburg, C. Kenneth Doss and wife, Saundra of Spout Spring, and M. Wayne Doss and wife, Janice of Concord; a sister, Josephine D. Cox and husband, Willie of Evington; a sister-in-law, Wanda Doss of Thomas Terrace and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur L. Doss and P. Randolph Doss.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, May 2, 2008 at Red Oak Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Barker and Fred Kruschwitz. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 104 and V.F.W. 8955 combined Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm.
