Lewis Austin Ragland, 70, of Old Courthouse Rd., Appomattox, died Thursday, April 12, 2012 in the Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Appomattox County, on October 26, 1941, he was a son of the late Lewis Douglas and Estelle Mae Bryant Ragland. He was retired from J. E. Sears and was a member of Mt. Hope Hunt Club.
Austin is survived by five brothers, Clarence Ragland and wife Audrey, Calvin (Jack) Ragland, Herman Ragland and his wife Kathy; Robert Ragland and wife Diane, and Roger Ragland and wife Tammy; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Ragland and Helen Ragland; two nephews; four nieces; and a special friend, Barry Watkins.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia R. Spiggle; three brothers, James, Buck and Delmas Ragland and two nephews, R. L. and Del Ragland.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Saturday, April 14, from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. and other times at the home of Helen Ragland. A graveside funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. in the Bryant Family Cemetery by Pastor Jeff Worley.
