Kevin Troy Childress, 48, of Sunnydale Avenue, Appomattox, died suddenly on Friday, June 21, 2019, at his residence. Born in Lynchburg, Va., on July 23, 1970, he was a son of the late Phyllis Doss and William Clyde Childress, Sr.
Troy is survived by his wife, Melissa Jacobs Childress, the love of his life; brothers, William Clyde (Dick) Childress, Jr. and Dwayne Childress both of Phenix; sisters, Deborah (Dotsy) Lucy and husband, James of Hurt, Kendra Childress of Phenix and Melinda (Nu) Robbins and husband, Jerry of Phenix; and a host of many close friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews, including a special nephew, Barrett Lucy.
Troy touched the lives of so many with his larger than life personality. He lived life to the fullest and always had a joke or story to share that would bring a smile to all who were fortunate enough to know him. He loved his family and enjoyed time with his friends hunting, fishing, and playing music. He was a police officer for BWXT.
A memorial service will be held 6 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Liberty Baptist Church by Pastor Jeff Worley. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
