Kenneth Ray O'Brien, 63, of Anderson Mill Road, Appomattox, went to be with the Lord and join his son, Jason in heaven on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on December 5, 1954, he was a son of the late Rachel Page and Clem Hancock O'Brien. Kenneth retired from the Air Force after 21 years of service to his country and then was employed by Horizon Behavioral Health as a telecommunications engineer.

He is survived by his life partner, Vera Harley; two brothers, William Clem "Sonny" O'Brien and Calvin Edward O'Brien and wife, Sue all of Appomattox; a sister, Clair O. Ferguson and husband, Mark of Lynchburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2018, at Robinson Funeral Home by Pastor Marvin Suitt. Burial will follow in the O'Brien Family Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and V.F.W. #9855 combined honor guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral.
