Kenneth Thomas Doss, 77, of River Ridge Rd., Appomattox, died suddenly on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 while in Michigan. He was the husband of Ida Virginia Covington Doss.

Born in Appomattox County, on August 20, 1934, he was the son of the late Thomas Andrew Doss and Aileen Ferguson Doss. Kenneth was a member of Walker's Presbyterian Church and a US Navy veteran serving on the USS Porter. He was a retired Grade A Dairy farmer and a faithful blood donor giving 193 pints of blood.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four children and their spouses, Tina and R. C. Carter, Rebecca and David Stratton, Thomas and Priscilla Doss, and Christie and Greg Schmitt; eight grandchildren, Tiffany and John Martin, Jennifer and Jordan Harris, Joey Carter, Brittany McCormick, Zach Schmitt, Thomas Ashton Doss, Blake Schmitt, and Skylar Schmitt; five great grandchildren, Trey, Colin, Graydon, Alaina, and Madden; and two sisters, Joyce Patterson and her husband, Diuguid and Carlene Covington.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy C. Hall.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2011 at Walker's Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Marina Gopadze. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW #9855 combined honor guard.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home, Thursday, Nov. 17, from 5-7 p.m. and other times at the residence.
