Katie Coleman Wells Williams, 85, of Anderson Hwy., Gladstone, died Monday, August 29, 2011, in Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Appomattox County, on September 17, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Spurgeon and Mary Inge Coleman. She was a member of Liberty Chapel Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and served in various other offices. Katie was a member of the Senior Citizens of Gladstone and retired from Imperial Reading after 32 years as floor supervisor in finishing and pressing department.
She is survived by her husband, Ferris (Sonny) Williams; a daughter, Patricia Megginson and husband, R.T. of Gladstone; four sons, R. David Wells and wife, Virginia of Lynchburg, Richard P. Wells, Jr., Lloyd Dale Wells and wife, Donna, and Freddy S. Wells all of Gladstone; a brother, Billy C. Coleman and wife, Lois of Appomattox; a sister, Shirley C. O'Brien of Gladstone; step sons, F. Edward Williams, Jr., Dan W. Williams, and Michael T. Williams; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Phelps Wells; three brothers, Charles P. (Pete) Coleman, David C. Coleman, and James B. Coleman; a sister, Janice Cash; two grandsons, Rusty Wells and Jason O'Brien; a daughter-in-law, Karen Wells and a step-son, Dennis Williams.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2011, in Liberty Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Matt Davis with burial following in the Wells Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home, Wed., Aug. 31, from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
