Katie Irby Ramsey, 92, of Eldon Road, Appomattox, died Monday, October 15, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital.  She was twice widowed, her first husband was the late Whitt Wesley Doss and her second husband was the late Stanley William Ramsey, Sr.

Born in Campbell County, December 8, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Mary Tolbott Irby and Richard Harris Irby.  Katie was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She was raised on the family farm where they raised Tobacco and operated a sawmill. Katie and her husband owned and operated Ramsey's Restaurant for several years and she was a seamstress at Ilene's and Appomattox Garment Factory. Katie loved music and enjoyed being on stage in the Lynchburg Armory with her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Elaine Vroemen of Charlotte C.H.; two sons, Danny Wayne Ramsey and wife, Betty of Appomattox, and Stanley William Ramsey, Jr of Nelson; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

Katie was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Ramsey.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2018 at Providence Baptist Church, with Rev. Anthony Reeves and Rev. John Campbell, officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Robinson Funeral Home.
