Obituary

"Well done thy good and faithful servant." On May 25, 2008, Katie Reynolds Martin, completed her tasks here on earth where she walked daily with her Lord, and was devoted to her family. She was the wife of the late Travis Russell Martin.
Born in Appomattox County, February 15, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Herbert and Alice Hagood Reynolds. Katie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served as Assistant Treasurer for 40 years. She also served as Lay Leader, was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, the Administrative Board, Secretary for the Appomattox Charge, and held many offices in the U. M. Women. She was a member of the Appomattox Home Demonstration Club and a founding member of the Appomattox Craft Shop.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Merlyn and John H. Burks of Lynchburg and Penny and Larry Jordan of Appomattox; three sisters, Cleo Reynolds of Lynchburg, Sallie Martin of Riner, and Corean Davidson of Columbus, OH; a brother and sister-in-law, Garland H. and Rita Reynolds of Los Angeles, CA; a sister-in-law, Belle Reynolds Megginson of Appomattox; a brother-in-law, T. R. Martin, Jr.; five grandchildren, Monica C. Martin and husband, Gary of Lynchburg, Richard W. Carroll, Jr. and wife, Andrea of Bristol, Allison C. Moore and husband, James of Colfax, NC, Brooke M. Stephens and husband, Robbie of Spout Spring and Ashley Jordan of Appomattox; and nine great grandchildren, Mason, Lane, and Parker Carroll; Grayson and Reagan Martin, Macey, Kayton, and Camryn Moore; and Rob Stephens.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Lou Martin and two brothers, Marvin G. Reynolds and Lonnie C. Reynolds, Sr.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Thorne. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 – 2:45 p.m. the day of the service.
