Kathleen Blanks Mitchell, 92, of Red House died on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Raymond Whitfield Mitchell. Born on September 17, 1919 in Campbell County, she was a daughter of the late Frank Howard Blanks and Lillian Elder Blanks.
Kathleen is survived by two sons, Ronald W. Mitchell (Emily) and David C. Mitchell (Charlene) all of Red House; one daughter, Carolyn Marston (Ryland) of Crewe; son-in-law, Randolph Smith of Richmond; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Kathleen was predeceased by a son, Anthony Grayson "Tony" Mitchell; daughter, Shelia M. Smith; two sisters and three brothers.
Kathleen was a member of Providence Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, a member of the W.M.U. and sang in the choir.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. Alden Hicks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
