Mary Katherine Woodall Wingfield, 88, of Looner Den Rd., Appomattox, died Saturday evening, February 12, 2011, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Walter Hampton Wingfield.
Born in Appomattox County, October 12, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Lucy Covington and Clement R. Woodall, Sr. Mrs. Wingfield was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church and the WMU.
She is survived by two daughters, Julia F. Wingfield and Mary Ellen Foster and husband, Larry all of Appomattox; a brother, Clement R. Woodall, Jr. and his wife, Frances of Lynchburg; five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, William and Mary Watson and children, Bill, Anakin, Mandi, and Dustin; April W. and Terry Campbell and children, Kiersten and Tristan; Alisa F. and Tim Blankenship and children, Jeremy and Sarah; Tanya F. and Lewis Mitchell and children, Carley, Chase, and Carter; and J. J. and Susan Foster and children, Jack and Owen. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Nell Woodall, Ruby C. Woodall and Mildred Wingfield and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by nine brothers.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Hollywood Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Phillips and the Rev. Richard Woodall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service and other times at the residence.
