Bessie Katherine Baker Dickerson, 95, of Pamplin, died April 1, 2011, at the Woodland in Farmville where she had received loving, skilled care from a compassionate, dedicated staff. She was the widow of Clyde R. Dickerson who died in 1968.
Katherine was born in Charlotte County, August 13, 1915, to Purnel and Carrie Vassar Baker. She was a devoted member of Rocks Baptist Church. She loved people and shared her culinary talents especially delicious cakes and pies. Katherine was a dedicated care-giver to many who truly enriched her life.
She is survived by her son, Raymond Dickerson and his wife, Nancy; her daughter, Ann Spain and her husband, Tommy all of Pamplin; two grandsons, Keith Dickerson and his wife, Tracy of Richmond and Brian Dickerson and his wife, Tanya of Appomattox; five great-grandchildren, Amanda, Austin, Aidan, Kayli, and Haley; a sister-in-law, Cornelia Dodson Baker of Randolph; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Morgan, and Richard Baker.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rocks Baptist Church, Sunday, April 3, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., by the Rev. Ron Moore and the Rev. David Sexton. Interment will follow in Pamplin Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the homes of her children.
