Karen Anita Wilcox Wells, 58, of Gladstone, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 17, 2009. She was the wife of Frederick "Freddy" S. Wells, Sr.
Born in Appomattox Co., she was the daughter of Thurman L. Wilcox, Sr., Evergreen, and the late Gladys Marks Wilcox. She was a former teller with Member One Credit Union and a member of Liberty Chapel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and led the Girls in Action mission group. Karen was a volunteer with Gleaning for the World and always was available and helping anyone in need.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by one son, F. Stephen Wells, Jr. and his wife, Angela, Wylie, Texas; three daughters, Tina Marie J. Woods and her husband, Daniel, Lynchburg, Stacey Torrence and her husband, Micah, Spout Spring, and Bethany Rose Wells, Richmond; two brothers, Arnold G. Thornhill and his wife, Nancy, Lynchburg, and Thurman L. "Buddy" Wilcox, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, Appomattox; two sisters, Patsy Martin and her husband, William, Appomattox, and Jackie Bishop and her husband, J.B., Spartanburg, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Nathan, Sam Jon, Aaron, Noah, Alora, Isaiah, Brianna, and MaKenzie; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including a special devoted nephew, Ed Williams.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Dianne Johnson, and a sister, Rosa Williams.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Liberty Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Wilson with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 pm and other times at the residence.
