Junior David Phillips, 71, of Appomattox, died Thursday night December 1, 2011 at his residence. He was the husband of Ann Hodges Phillips.
David was born in Rockbridge County July 27, 1940 a son of the late Wreathie Grishaw. He was reared by the late E.A. (Cap'n) and Annie Covington. David was an employee of Appomattox Truck & Tractor for 26 years and retired after 15 years of service as a truck driver for the Appomattox County Landfill. He served his country as a member of the Virginia National Guard.
In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by his children, Ronnie Phillips and his wife April of Evergreen, Jeff Phillips and his wife Vanessa, John Wayne Phillips all of Appomattox and Robin Lynn Nash and her husband Ray of Pamplin; ten grandchildren, Tyler and Colby Phillips, Daniel Phillips and fiancée, Ashley, Sarah Phillips, Curtis Nash and wife, Ashley, Cassie Nash, Justin Phillips, Jake and Dakota Deaner, and Beverly; one great granddaughter, KayLeigh, and his sister, Luellan Cash of Raphine; his uncle, Chub Kennedy of Goshen and Ida Virginia C. Doss who was like a sister, and a special caretaker, Uthresha Branham. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Everette Phillips.
Funeral services will be conducted at Evergreen Baptist Church on Sunday December 4, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. by the Rev. Dr. Chris King and the Rev. Ron Moore. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 7-8:30 PM, on Saturday, December 3, 2011.
