Julia Gibson Ogden, 83, of Farmcrest Road, Concord, died Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Edward Eugene Ogden, Sr.

Born in Bedford County, Va., on October 21, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Mary Jenkins and Charlie Gibson. She was a loving wife, mother and great-grandmother. Julia was a member of New Concord Presbyterian Church and a former employee of Pettyjohn Shoe Factory and Thomasville Furniture Co.

She is survived by three children, Debbie Roach and husband, Johnny, Sandy Mays, and Edward Ogden, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Doug Roach, Tonia R. Perdue, Mandy Roach, Calvin Mays, Tiffany Mays, Cheyenne Roach, Hannah Guill, and Haylee Belle; five great-grandchildren, Wayne Perdue, Wiley Hambrick, Christi Klein, Brooklyn Mays, and Winston Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Moore and two grandsons, Jamie Roach and Scotty Roach.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2018, in New Concord Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. George Goodman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral home on Tuesday, May 1 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
