Joyce McCormick France

Joyce McCormick France, 83, of Appomattox, VA, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Lynchburg General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Philip Dorsey France.

Born in Lynchburg, VA, on May 7, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Marie Wright and Eugene Welton McCormick. Joyce was a member of Liberty Chapel Baptist Church. She retired as a supervisor at Armstrong Furniture.

She is survived by five children, David A. Robertson and wife, Kay, Melinda Miller and husband, Kim, Joan Morgan and husband, Robert, Phyllis Branch and husband, Jerry, and Rodney France and wife, Leigh; ten grandchildren, Erica, Jessica, Jason, Justin and wife, Amy, NinaMarie and husband, Collins, Brandon, Allison, Christopher and wife, Taylor, James, McKenna and husband, Erik; nine great-grandchildren, Brylee, Nash, Kolly, Henry, Louie, Cadence, August, Fletcher, Finnagen; two sisters, Martha McCormick Shanaberger and Susie M. Ramsey; one brother, Wayne E. McCormick and wife, Janice; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Larry Shanaberger and Gary Ramsey.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jim Baylor. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
