Joyce Ferguson McCormick, 65, of Mocking Bird Lane, Gladstone, died Thursday, September 24, 2009, in Lynchburg Health and Rehab Center. She was the wife of Floyd McCormick, Sr.
Born in Appomattox Co., December 19, 1943 she was the daughter of the late Wilson Ryland (Willie) and Eula Ayers Ferguson.
She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and in the last few years she attended Maple Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Floyd Lee McCormick, Jr., and his wife Wanda, of Buena Vista, James Wilson, "J.W", McCormick, and his wife Gwyn, of Spout Spring, and Richard Keith McCormick, and his wife Diane, of Gladstone; a brother, Tom Dooley Ferguson, and his wife Pam, of Appomattox; four sisters, Rena Litchford, and her husband Clyde, of Gladstone, Verna Wood, Nita Mann, and her husband Jackie, all of Appomattox, Marie Hensley, and her husband Tommy, of Pamplin; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Woody, of Lynchburg; and many special nieces and nephews including a loving niece, Kelly Janecke, and a loving great-niece Shawna Knight.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Wilson Ferguson, a sister, Sarah Ann Woody, and a brother-in-law, Roy Wood.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to everyone at Lynchburg Health and Rehab Center for their loving care of Joyce.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday September 27, 2009, at Robinson Funeral Home with the Rev. Carlton Duck and the Rev. Harold Powers officiating. Burial will follow in the McCormick Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 8:30 PM, Saturday, September 26, 2009, and other times at the residence.
