John Henry Simmons, 92, of Evergreen, VA, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Ragland Simmons.

Born in Virginia on October 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Mary Lizzie Ranson Simmons and the late Clarence Burnette Simmons. He was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church. Henry was a United States Air Force Korean War Veteran and worked for Norfolk and Southern Railroad for 43 years.

He is survived by four children, Cindy Camper and husband, David, John Simmons and wife, Kim, Renee Moore and husband, Le, and Tanya Robertson and husband, Wade; one daughter-in-law, Ann Simmons; five grandchildren, Karleigh Ison and husband Hunter, Carter Simmons, Kirsten Moore, Peyton Simmons, Nixon Robertson and his "first" grandchild, Beth Bollinger Frady; one great-grandchild, Reyna Ison; one brother, Howard Franklin Simmons and wife, Maxine; one sister-in-law, Shirley Stanley; one brother-in-law, Ray White; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Arnold Simmons.

A funeral will be held at 11 am, Friday, September 19, 2025, at Evergreen United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Eric Hernandez. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 pm, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
