John Russell Robertson, 59, of Amherst, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Elizabeth Harwood Robertson.
Born in Lynchburg, April 2, 1947, he was the son of the late James Robertson and Ruth Robertson Brassard of Spring Hill, FL. John was an honest and sincere man who loved his family, had a personal relationship with God, and loved animals especially his beloved cats, Isadora, Lucy, Mary-Margaret, and Hugo. He was an avid follower of Florida State football and enjoyed golfing and walking on the grounds of Sweetbriar College, which he considered his private park. John was a graduate of Massie Technical Institute, attended Florida State and was employed by Areva Framatone for 35 years.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by a daughter, Virginia Robertson Gray and her husband, Scott of Chattanooga, TN; four grandchildren, Emily, Christian, Ashlyn, and Anna Kate; a brother, Terry Robertson of Jacksonville, FL; and his step-father, Roger Brassard and three nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, December 1, 2006 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Dwayne Martin.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 10:00 – 10:50 am the day of the service.
To honor John's wishes the family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to ones favorite charity.
The family especially wants to thank the Amherst-Monelison Rescue Squad and all the doctors and nurses at Lynchburg General.
