John James "Pop-Pop" Purcell, 89, of Narrow Passage Road, Spout Spring, died Monday, July 27, 2015, at his residence. He was the husband of Katherine White Purcell; they celebrated their 70th anniversary on June 20, 2015.
Born in Trenton, N.J., on October 12, 1925, he was a son of the late Florence Mifflin and John James Purcell, Sr. He was a member of Appomattox Assembly of God and a retired New Jersey Transit mechanic.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard James and Joy Purcell of Spout Spring; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Robert Evans of Hamilton Square, N.J. and Peggy Lee and Jared Giles of Pennsylvania; two daughters-in-law, Deborah L. Purcell and Debbie A. Purcell; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, James Michael Purcell and Robert John Purcell.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Thursday, July 30, from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2015, at Appomattox Assembly of God by the Pastor Rodney Blank with burial following in Liberty Cemetery.
