John W. Childress, III, 68, of Mockingbird Lane, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Brenda Burnley Childress for 37 years.
Born in Lynchburg, March 30, 1947 he was a son of the late Rachel Burks and John William Childress, Jr. John was a member of Maple Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a distributor operator for Whitehurst Paving for over 30 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two children, John W. Childress, IV and Tonya Renee Childress both of Gladstone; two sisters, Crystal McCormick and husband Donnie and Amanda Branch all of Appomattox; a grandson, Cody Ray Childress; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Evelyn McDonald.
A Funeral Service will be held 2p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Childress, and Rev. Harold Powers officiating. Burial will follow in the Burks Family cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2016 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
