John "Jack" Barrett Lawson, 17, of Appomattox, died Thursday, September 27, 2007. Jack had a beautiful smile that will be remembered for lighting up every room he entered and for letting everyone know he was glad to see them.
Born in Lynchburg, August 14, 1990, he is a beloved son of Thomas W. and Teresa Lettner Lawson. Jack was a junior at Appomattox County High School and a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother and best friend, James Parker Lawson of Appomattox as well as his other cherished siblings Mark Mitchell Lawson of Lynchburg, Alison L. Roedder and her husband, Chad of Atlanta and Jill Elaine Lawson of Winchester; maternal grandparents, James L. "Papa" and Lois R. "Nana" Lettner of Montpelier with whom he enjoyed an especially loving relationship, and maternal great grandmother, Grace C. "Nanny" Reynolds of Fredericksburg. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John R. Lawson, Jr., "Poppy and Granny". Jack had two beloved pets, his basset hound Charlie and his golden retriever Stitch. He enjoyed hunting with his father and friends who belonged to Chestnut Mountain Hunt Club in Stonewall. Besides his family, Jack's greatest passion was time spent with the many friends he made during his precious 17 years.
A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 30, 2007, at Memorial United Methodist Church. The Rev. Daniel Dockery and the Rev. Rusty Small will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at their residence.

Jack was a true gift from God, with whom his parents know he now lives in glory.
