John Henry LaPrade, Jr., 70, of Horseshoe Road, Appomattox, died Sunday morning July 19, 2015 at Liberty Ridge. He was the husband of Margaret Spangler LaPrade.
John was born in Charlottesville June 9, 1945 a son of the late Margaret Logan and John Henry LaPrade, Sr. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church, served honorably in the US Navy during Vietnam and was a salesman for Mitchell Homes.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Holly Rebecca New of Baltimore, MD; four step-children, Karen Spicer and husband, Commodore of Appomattox, Kathy Hogue and husband, Tom of Elgin, SC, Renee Ratliff and husband, Dean of Pahrump, NV, and Eddie Owens and wife, Misti of Princeton,WV; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jana Ratliff and a great-granddaughter, Sadie Renae Agnor.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm Tuesday July 21, 2015 at Robinson Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Jonathan Watson. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 3 pm in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
