John Patrick Gleeson, 80, of Tower Road, Pamplin, died Thursday, April 8, 2021, in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Sharon Hauff Gleeson.

Born in California, on July 1, 1940, he was a son of the late Vivian Swanson and Walter Patrick Gleeson. He was a retired Sergeant Major in the US Army serving during the Vietnam war.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jonathon Patrick Gleeson of Pamplin; three daughters, Cynthia Marie Gleeson of Silver Springs, MD, Kathleen Hamlett of Red House, and Jennie Walthour of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Janis Boyd of Melcher-Dallas, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; and over 30 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Tony Reeves will be held 11 am, Friday, April 30, 2021, at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
