Obituary

John George Dombrowski, 71, of Spout Spring, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Irene Dombrowski.

Born in Hammond Indiana, May 19, 1942, he was a son of the late Walter J. and Evelyn Wahoviak Dombrowski. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and had retired from the Department of Defense as a Lieutenant in the police department of the Mayport Naval Base, Jacksonville, Fla. John served his country first as a member of the US Army, he then joined the US Marine Corps serving three tours of duty in Vietnam.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Marya Eve Thompson and her husband Jay, of Clarksburg, MD; seven grandchildren, Kerry Ryan Thompson, Katherine Anne Bowman, Scott J. Bowman, Zak N. Thompson, Andrew Bowman, Jr., Kassie M. Thompson and MacKenzie D. Thompson; son-in-law, Andrew Allen Bowman, Sr., of Santa Fe, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise O'Gara Dombrowski and a daughter, Joy G. Bowman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am, Friday, July 12, 2013 in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church by Father James Gallagher. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW #9855 combined honor guard.
