Obituary

Appomattox: Jesse Morton Rosser, Jr., 71, of Oakleigh Ave., died Thursday, January 26, 2006 in Lynchburg General Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Rebecca Babcock Rosser.
Born in Lynchburg, September 1, 1934, he was the son of the late Jesse Morton Rosser, Sr. and Virginia Marion Adams Rosser. Jesse was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a retired employee of the Babcock and Wilcox Co., a charter member of the Appomattox Moose Lodge #975, and a member of the American Legion Post #104. He attended school at Fork Union Military Academy, graduated from Appomattox High School and continued his education at Lynchburg College and Hampden-Sydney College where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Jesse was baptized as a youth at Liberty Baptist Church by Dr. Carl Collins who also performed his wedding to Rebecca in 1956.
In addition to his loving wife, Rebecca, he is survived by two children, Susan Rosser Jones and her husband, Ricky of Rustburg and Jesse Morton Rosser, III and his wife, Julie of Chandler, Ariz.; two grandsons, Evan Daniel Rosser and Kyle Patrick Rosser; a step-grandson, David Jones; two brothers-in-law, W. Bryon Babcock of Virginia Beach and Bradley L. Babcock of Harrisonburg; a nephew, Whit Babcock, his wife Kelly, and their three children; a niece, Gini Babcock, as well as a number of special friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Dawn Rosser.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, January 28, 2006 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Bruce Johnson. A private burial will be held at the Babcock Family Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, Jesse requested that cards of sympathy be sent to the family or memorials be made to the Appomattox Rescue Squad, PO Box 57, Appomattox, VA 24522.
Jesse lived his life by the motto, "family comes first". He was a wonderful husband and father.
