Jesse Ray Ebbs, 68, of Hummingbird Lane, Spout Spring, died suddenly Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Betty Weeks Ebbs.
Born in Montrose, Colorado, on February 22, 1941, he was a son of the late Robert Martin Ebbs and Clara Kettle Ebbs. Jesse was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy Veteran. After his retirement from R.R. Donnelly, Jesse worked for Windows Direct from 2000 – 2004, and from 2004 – 2007 he worked with his wife and daughter at the Family Pantry in Concord.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two children, Rodney Ebbs and wife Shelley and Susan E. Roope and husband, David all of Spout Spring and Barry and Kelly Brooks of Lynchburg whom he loved as his children; one brother, Robert Ebbs of Spout Spring, one sister, Anna Marie Vaughan of Casa Grande, AZ; five grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Hunter, Ethan and Lilly; brother-in-law, J. W. Weeks and his wife, Pat of TN; three nieces, Vicki Rael and family of AZ, Kara Weeks and family, and Kelly Weeks all of TN; nephew, Dan Burnett and family of AZ. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Thomas Terrace Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Grooms and the Rev. Calvin Corbitt. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW #9855 combines honor guard .
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today, Tuesday, August 4, 2009 from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
