Jessalyn Moore Burcher, 92, of Oakville Road, Appomattox, died Friday, January 11, 2019 at the residence of her son. She was the wife of the late Garland Fenwick Burcher to whom she was married for 61 years.
Born in Appomattox County, March 30, 1926, she was the oldest child of the late Marjorie Martin and Louis Moore. Jessalyn was a faithful member of Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church where she was a life member of the United Methodist Women. She worked for many years in the local garment industry and enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, and sewing for her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Burcher and Michael Burcher and wife, Batina; one brother, Louis Walker Moore and wife, Anne all of Appomattox; two sisters, Sue Campbell of Appomattox and Eva Moore of Mineral; two grandchildren, Chris Burch of Richmond, and Rhonda Burch-Graboske and husband, Charles of Henrico; three great-grandchildren, Ryker, Crosly, and Isaac; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Carlton Moore and an infant brother and three sisters, Annie Rebecca M. Covington, Margueritte M. Jordan, and Faye M. Weston.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church with Pastor John Flood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
