J. C. "Jake" Steadman, 82, of Spout Spring Road, died Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret Alice Orange Steadman.

Born in Kingsport, TN, September 14, 1933, he was a son of the late Fannie Cox and Enoch Steadman. He was a former employee of Burruss Land and Lumber Company. J.C. was a member of East Brook Baptist Church.

He is survived by a son, Donald Steadman and wife, Susan of Gladys; a daughter-in-law, Jenny Crews Steadman of Appomattox; one brother, Jerrell Steadman of Rustburg; two grandchildren, Amy Steadman and Taylor Steadman both of Gladys.

He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Steadman; three brothers, James Steadman, Horrace Steadman and Leroy Steadman; and two sisters, Rose Lee Staples and Immogene Hughes.

A Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m., June 5, 2016 at East Brook Baptist Church, 3050 East Brook Road, Rustburg, with Pastor Curtis Walkup officiating. Burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Robinson Funeral Home.
