Farmville: Janet Hix Scott, 50, of 437 Angola Rd., died Sunday, October 23, 2005 at her home. She was the wife of Thomas Porter Scott, III.
Born in Farmville, March 25, 1955, she was the daughter of John and Florence Oliver Hix of Hixburg. Janet was a member of Hobson's Chapel United Methodist Church, a consummate educator, and a strong supporter and active participant in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two sons, Thomas Edwin Scott and John Harwood Scott both of Farmville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John David and Gloria Hix, Thomas W. and Vicki Hix and James W. and Sharon Hix all of Hixburg; four double first cousins the children of William and Glenna Hix, Jane Hix, Danny Hix, Cynthia Smith, Mary Beth Crouse; mother and father-in-law, Margaret Midkiff and Thomas P. Scott, Jr. of Farmville; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Kelly Barrett of Winston-Salem, NC and Betty and Jeff Duncan of Rockville and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Louise Scott of Farmville.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at 10:00 am, in Hobson's Chapel United Methodist Church, Powhatan and 2:00 pm, in Elon Baptist Church, Pamplin by the Rev. Albert Davis, the Rev. Rick Butcher, and the Rev. Andrew Matthews.
The family will receive friends today at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox from 7-8:30 pm.
