Jane Benham Low Hayes, 86, of Appomattox passed away on December 18, 2022, at Twin County Regional Hospital.

Born in New Jersey on May 25, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Archibald Benham and Anne Hendrickson Benham. She was a retired bookkeeper from Agway Farm Stores and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Jane volunteered at St. Anne's Episcopal Clothes Closet and Food Pantry. She loved spending time at the beach and with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.

She is survived by four children, Rhonda J. Goad and husband, Michael of Hillsville, Colleen H. Runyan and husband, Steve of Pennsburg, Pa., Sherri D. Demmer and, husband Kevin of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Brian D. Low and wife, Lisa of Jackson, N.J.; five grandchildren, Christy Bauer and husband, Ron, Nicole Scarcelli and husband, Mike, Daniel Allen, Sara Morrison and husband, Matt, and Philip Runyan; six great-grandchildren, Abigail, Frances, and Julianna Bauer, Isabella and Gabriella Scarcelli, and Jayden Runyan.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry S. Low, Jr. and William K. Hayes; a sister, Eleanor Benham; and a brother, Melvin A. Benham.

A funeral service will be held 11 am, Thursday December 22, 2022, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Father Jim Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
