Obituary

Jan Chipman Peterson, 76, of James River Road, Gladstone, died Wednesday August 26, 2015 at his residence. He was the husband of Sara Diamond Peterson.
Born in Danvers, Mass., in January, 1939, he was a son of the late Margaret Creedon and Henry Victor Peterson, Sr. Jan was retired from the Department of the Navy in the Program Evaluation Branch of the Special Projects Office, where he received the highest civilian award from the Navy Department, the Distinguished Civilian Service Award as head of the Program Evaluation Branch, Strategic Systems Program, Department of the Navy. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and two daughters, Bart Peterson and wife, Denise of Atlanta, Ga., Rick Peterson and wife, Sepi of Northern Virginia, Julie Grace Peterson of Maryland, Ski Peterson and wife, Pam of Atlanta, Ga., and Chris Peterson of Sylva, N.C.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Henry Peterson, Jr. and wife, Joan of Winthrop, Maine.
A memorial service will be held at a date to be determined.
