James Earl Totty, 89, of Hummingbird Lane, Spout Spring, died on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born in Appomattox County, on May 14, 1921, he was a son of the late Harry Benjamin Totty and the late Mattie Wingfield Totty. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Jim was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Concord where he served as a former deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher. He retired from B & W.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rachel Belle Smith Totty; four sons and daughters-in-law, James E. Jr. and Chris Totty of South Riding, Carl and Patty Totty of Monroe, Dennis and Carolyn Totty of Evergreen, and Mike and Marlene Totty of Appomattox; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2010, in Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Casper and Rev. Chad Harris. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Thursday, October 14, 2010, from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the residence.
