Obituary
James Henry Thackston, Jr., 78 of Martin Farm Rd, Stuart, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Landmark Center. He was the husband of the late Jane Chilton Thackston.
Born February 13, 1936 in Surry Co, NC, he was the son of the late Alice Ranson and James H. Thackston, Sr. He was a retired employee of Carolina Steel.
He is survived by one son, Robert Thackston and his wife, Jessica, of Dallas, TX; three daughters, Tamara Parsons of Allen, TX; Melanie Hum and her husband, Scott of Raleigh, NC and Selinda Casey and her husband, Brian of McKinney, TX; one sister, Sandra Best of Winston-Salem, NC and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Evergreen United Methodist Church by the Rev. Herndon Jefferies with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Evergreen Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 121, Evergreen, VA 23939.
