James Ray Kress, 68, of Railroad Lane, Pamplin, died Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

Born in Appomattox County, November 28, 1953, he was a son of the late Virginia Ellen Childress and George William Kress. He retired from Taylor-Ramsey log yard in Pamplin.

He is survived by one brother, John Thomas Kress of Pamplin; four sisters, Delores Moon of Lynchburg, Teresa Jennings of Pamplin, Virgina "Gini" Kress and husband, Wayne of Appomattox and Verta Whittaker of Rustburg; brother-in-law, Ray Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ella Kress Johnson and Janie Kress; and one brother, Sammy Kress.

A graveside service will be held 3 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Pamplin Cemetery with Pastor Charles Horne officiating.
