Appomattox: James Bruce Kinder Sr., 66, of 520 Berry Lane, died Monday, January 29, 2007 in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born in Tazewell County, August 13, 1940, he was a son of the late Boyd Henry and Sarah Joyce Kinder. Mr. Kinder was owner and operator of Kinder Berry Farm, attended Clearview Baptist Church, was a member of the UMWA Local Union 6167 in Jewell Ridge, and was a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Flora Elswick Kinder; a son, James B. Kinder, Jr. and wife, Kathy of Appomattox; a daughter, Bonita K. Pierce and husband, Henry (Poochie) of Spout Spring; three brothers, Roy Kinder of Richlands, Harry Kinder of Honaker, and J. T. Kinder of Merritt, MI; two sisters, Virginia Barnett of Concord, NC and Mary Welch of Oak Harbor, OH; eight grandchildren, Henry Pierce Jr., Jonathon Pierce, Donnie Wayne Fisher, Mary Barker, Donna Dudley, Kasie Amos, Stacie Pierce, and Angela Pierce; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, February 2, 2007 at Hurst Scott Funeral Home, Richlands, VA, by the Rev. Bruce Mitchell and the Rev. Joe Horne. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Garden, Claypool Hill, VA.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Wednesday from 7-8:30 pm and on Thursday at Hurst Scott Funeral Home from 7-8:30 pm.
