James Russell Hensley, III, 77, of Prospect, died Tuesday, July 2, 2024.  He was the husband of Gloria Jean Hensley.

Born in Richmond, June 8, 1947, he was a son of the late Lois Ann Harris Hensley and James Russell Hensley, II.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James Russell Hensley, IV and wife, Kim and Jason Hensley and wife, Tina; one daughter, Stephanie Hensley Stanley and husband, David; two stepsons, Jimmy Williamson and wife, Jennifer and Mike Williamson and wife, Dianne; brother, Jerry Hensley and wife, Eunice; sister, Lola Slayton and husband, Stacey; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pamela P. Hensley; and one sister, Vicky Dale Hensley.

A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m., July 8, 2024, at Elon Baptist Church with Pastor David Sexton and Pastor Steve Tyree officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
