James David Doss

James David Doss, 81, of Appomattox, VA, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at his home. He was the loving husband of Brenda Laughlin Doss.

Born in Campbell County, VA, on July 22, 1945, he was the son of the late Alease Johnson Doss and Charlie Garland Doss. James was known as a “jack of all trades” and was employed for many years at the Farmers Seed and Supply in Lynchburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Lisa Mason, Craig “Joe” Jordan and Jennifer, and Brandi Walker; six grandchildren, Whitney Gilbert and Nathan, Savannah Mason and fiancé, Jacob Shepard, Estella Mays and Christopher, Allistaire Jordan, Chloe Jordan, and Preston Jordan; nine great-grandchildren, Nick Sheldon and Bri, Reece Sheldon, Houston Walker, Dallas Walker, Austin Walker, Myranda Kidd, Annaliese Franklin, Cam Mays, and Skylar Shepard.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Nancy Hardy, Jenny Shaw, Charles “BooBoo” Doss, and Willie Thomas “Tom” Doss.
