Appomattox: James Leslie "Boodley" Gordon, Jr., 87, of 407 Ferguson St., died Saturday, November 12, 2005 in the Summit Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Aldah Barlow Gordon.
Born in Appomattox County, May 12, 1918, he was a son of the late J. Leslie Gordon, Sr. and Jessie Miller Morris Gordon. Mr. Gordon was a member of Grace Hills Baptist Church, an US Army Veteran of World War II and a retired agent for Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company. He was a member of the American Legion Post #104 and a former member of the Appomattox Lion's Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Claudia Gordon Puckette and her husband, Daniel T. "Dan" Puckette; a grandson, Daniel Gordon Puckette all of Forest; a sister, Frances G. Hilton of Melbourne Beach, FL; two nieces, Virginia Rives Eldred and Alice H. Pavlock and extended family, Melanie Folks, Candice Inge, and Nina Beasley.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Wes Williams with burial following in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7-8:30 pm.
