James Hezekiah "Jim" Ford, Jr., 74, of Bent Creek Road, Concord, died Thursday, June 23, 2016. He was the loving husband of Sue E. Ford.
Born in Campbell County, Va., on July 17, 1941, he was a son of the late James H. Ford, Sr. and Marion Owen Ford Harwood. For 49 years, Jim was the State Farm Agent in Appomattox. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as treasurer for many years. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed spending his spare time on his farm. Jim was a loyal supporter to his community and exemplified being a good neighbor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Dana F. Wingfield and husband, Jay, Michelle F. Cheatham and husband, Greg all of Concord, and Jason H. Ford and wife, Amy of Wake Forest, NC; seven grandchildren who loved him dearly, Sarah W. Saunders and husband, Brian, Laban Wingfield, Eric Moore, Anna Paige Wingfield, Karsen Moore, Marybeth Ford, and Audrey Ford; a brother, John E. "Jack" Ford and wife, Sheila of Concord; sisters-in-law, Pam Miller and Carol Riggins and husband, Morris; numerous nieces and nephews and his loving dog, Rosie.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Frances Jones Ford.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Chad Harris and the Rev. Jeff Worley. Burial will follow in Central Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of his granddaughter, Sarah Saunders, 877 Ford Road, Concord, VA.
