James Lafayette Drinkard, Sr., 89, of Drinkard Road, Lynchburg, died Saturday, May 4, 2019 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Catherine Roberts Drinkard for 68 years.

orn in Lynchburg, July 21, 1929, he was a son of the late Georgie Cardwell and James Henry Drinkard. Lafayette was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and Reedy Spring Masonic Lodge. He retired from B&W with 35 years of service.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, James Lafayette Drinkard, Jr., and wife, Donna of Lynchburg; one daughter, Linda Holt and husband, Frank of Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Laura McDaniel and husband, Patrick, Stephanie Hazelwood and husband, Robert, and Jeremy Drinkard and wife, Tiffany; and four great-grandchildren, Alec McDaniel, Bryce Hazelwood, Braden Hazelwood, and Mikayla Drinkard.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Dibble officiating. Burial will follow in Concord cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
