James Richard
"Dick" Guill
January 1, 1943 – June 29, 2019
James Richard "Dick" Guill, 76, of Azalea Lane, Appomattox, died Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Peggy Lewis Guill, they shared their life together for 58 years.
Born in Lynchburg, January 1, 1943, he was a son of the late Nettie Torricelli and Harry Wilson Guill. Dick was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and helped with Habitat for Humanity. Dick proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He retired from B&W after 35 ½ years of service. Dick loved to fish and play golf.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Richard L. Guill and wife, Cathleen of Mooresville, NC; one daughter, Pamela G. Robinson and husband, Brian of Appomattox; two brothers, Ottoway Guill and wife, Barbara of Appomattox, and Freddie Guill of Lynchburg; one sister, Marilyn G. Scruggs of Lynchburg; sister-in-law, Eva Gray Tolley Guill of Appomattox; brother-in-law, Ronnie Lewis and wife, Ambie; seven grandchildren, Amanda Dye and husband, Glenn, Rachel Warren and husband, Tom, Chase Guill, Cole Guill, Renee Dudding and husband, Brian, Lindsey Hancock and husband, Marshall, and Blake Robinson; seven great-grandchildren, Landon, Isaac, Graham, Eila, Ella, Grace, and Ian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Carlton W. Guill and a brother-in-law, Warren Scruggs.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2019, at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Johnson and Rev. Russell Cheatham officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW #9855 combined honor guard.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m., Sunday, June 30, 2019 and other times at the residence.
