James "Jimmy" Carl Mitchell, 77, of Horseshoe Rd., Appomattox, died Saturday, April 1, 2017, in Appomattox Health and Rehab Center. He was the husband of Martha Jo Icenhour Mitchell for 51 years.
Born in Campbell County, Va., on August 22, 1939, he was the son of the late Lucille Jordan and James Alvin Mitchell. He was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church and presently attended Spout Spring Baptist. Jimmy retired from D. S. Nash Construction and was a beef cattle famer his entire life.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a god-son, Timothy James "T.J." Harris and wife, Ann; three god-daughters, Ashely H. Spencer and Justin, Amanda Martin, and Courtney Marie Martin; and two great-god-children, Addison Paige Spencer and Lane Thomas Harris; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen M. Kittinger.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Robinson Funeral Home by Pastor Paul Kvasnicka.
