James Perry Burton, 82, of Booth Drive, Appomattox, died Tuesday morning, October 14, 2008 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born in Williamson, WVa, October 14, 1926, he was a son of the late Perry M. and Julia Gibbings Burton. After receiving his degree from V.P.I. he became an Engineer with Pratt & Whitney Co. of Connecticut. He served his country during WWII as a member of the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by a brother, Richard Burton, Cary, N.C. and two sisters, Ann Keck, Roanoke and Jean Fugate, Jonesville.
Rev. Cameron Smith will be conducting a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 18, 2008 in Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
