James Berkley (Buddy) Carter, Sr., 74, of Rose Lane, Appomattox died Saturday morning, October 24, 2015 at Appomattox Health and Rehab.
He was the husband of the late Ella Louise Wilson Carter.
Buddy was born in Appomattox, on August 20, 1941 a son of the late Etta Goodwin Gentry and Berkley Sanford Carter.
He is survived by his children, Craig Sanford Carter and wife, Jessica of Evington, James Berkley (BJ) Carter, Jr. and wife, Angela of Appomattox, Denise Ferguson and husband, Bert of Rustburg, and Crystal Updike and husband, Christopher of Bedford; thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean C. Chenault; a brother, Ronald Wayne (Ronnie) Carter and wife, Gayle all of Appomattox; an aunt, Hazel Edward of Lynchburg.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Adult Health Care Services, Centra Hospice, and Diann Pickett for their care of Buddy during his illness.
A memorial service will be held 7pm, Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Robinson Funeral Home officiated by the Pastor Paul D. Kvasnicka, Jr.. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30pm and at other times at the home of B.J. and Angela Carter, Crosstie Road, Appomattox.
