Jack Eugene "Gene" Handy, 83, of Trent Hatchery Rd., Appomattox, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Appomattox Health and Rehab Center.
Born in Appomattox County, Va., on August 14, 1932, he was a son of the late Cessie Mays and James Emmitt Handy, Sr. He was a member of Appomattox Baptist Temple and a farmer.
He is survived by 13 nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by two brothers, James Emmitt Handy, Jr. and Herbert Lee Handy, Sr. and five sisters, Lorraine H. Gobble, Lessie H. Goin, Virginia H. Bullock, Edith H. Bollinger, and Ruth H. Ayers.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2016, in Robinson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home of Ralph Handy, 2927 Trent Hatchery Rd.
